GEORGIA FILMING NEWS:
Luxury Celeb Living in Buckhead
“Jennifer Lawrence (for Passengers), Jennifer Garner (for Miracles from Heaven) and Kate Winslet (for Triple 9 – in theaters now!) all have made movies in Atlanta recently – and they’ve all stayed in the same leased Buckhead estate during their respective times here.
The 5-bedroom, 5.5-bath home is in a great location on a very private piece of property with stunning amenities and extraordinary security: cameras, motion detectors and more.
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Realtor Carter Phillips specializes in finding unique, convenient and secure properties for many of the stars who come through town on various movie projects.
Rather than seeking a party pad, most celebrities are seeking functionality, he said.
“They have to have great kitchens and bathrooms and updated interiors,” he said. “A lot of them want pools.”
Often, room for a staff, including on-site security, and room for pets or kids is a must. Ditto space to work out.
Phillips has placed any number of stars and said no one has ever been a diva. He’s worked with Lawrence a number of times and had to keep after her folks to make sure he took care of any problems. Only after asking a number of times did they mention one time that a light in the closet was out – an easy fix he promptly took care of.
Leasing a private estate can run from $15,000 to $50,000 per month. Phillips typically deals with an assistant or property scout first and the talent generally comes to take a final gander right before the deal is sealed.
This particular Buckhead movie-star mansion is now on the market so who knows if it’ll be leased again to famous visitors. We’re told they all enjoyed their time here!“ – AJC

Do Zombies make terrible neighbors?
“The Walking Dead may be one of the biggest shows on television, and there are millions of people willing to do just about anything to be in the middle of all the action as the show is filmed.
But for many of the residents of Senoia, Georgia – the town that has played the home of Woodbury and Alexandria since season 3 – the excitement of filming a zombie drama in the neighborhood is starting to piss people off.
According to reports, residents of Senoia, Georgia are upset at the way The Walking Dead cast and crew treat the town. Apparently, Main Street is regularly shut down to traffic and residents have to walk through piles of trash and debris allegedly left by the props department to make the town look dirty and abandoned. The folks living in the cleaner Alexandria area have less trash, but a 20-foot fence surrounds their homes.
And then there are rules put in place to keep the show’s filming from getting messed up. Here’s what one Senoia resident had to say:
“At one point during filming, I was actually told by a cop directing traffic that I wasn’t allowed to be out on my own lawn,” Brittany says. “When they were filming at the wall of Alexandria, we were really close to where they were shooting. Security had to make sure that nobody walked past the blocked portions of the road, so when we walked out into the yard to see what was up, a security officer told us we couldn’t be out there unless we were trying to leave.”
“There is pretty much 24/7 police presence here,” Brittany says. “They’re on the lookout for anyone trying to mess with the Alexandria wall / leftover props, or anyone who is going to disturb residents living in the homes that appear in the show, so they watch us closely when we’re walking our dogs down the street or pulling into our own driveways.”
Apparently, fans of the show walk on the lawns, look in windows, climb on things to see filming locations and run into traffic. Not as bad as zombies, but definitely a nuisance.
There are more details in the original article, but living in Senoia, Georgia doesn’t seem all that bad. Once the show is done, they fix it up better than when they found it. They have contributed millions to build a new park. And many of the businesses are booming due to the growing number of tourists who pass through the town hoping for a look at the Walking Dead sets that famous characters almost died in.” – ProjectCasting

Film companies threaten to leave Georgia if the latest religious liberty bill passes.
“Many film studios are telling Georgia lawmakers that the highly controversial religious freedom will destroy Georgia’s booming film industry.
According to WSBTV, the religious liberty bill will cause for major Hollywood studios to boycott filming in Georgia, which will take away $4 billion from Georgia’s economy and leaving thousands without a job.
Supporters of the bill say that they’re skeptical of the numbers and that many film studios will continue to film in the Peach State.
But, what is the religious liberty bill?
On Friday, the Georgia Senate passed the “First Amendment Defense Act.” Supporters of the bill say it protects faith-based organizations such as adoption agencies from losing state funding if they refuse to service same-sex couples.
“It doesn’t matter if you believe in traditional marriage or you believe in nontraditional, you’re protected from adverse state action,” says Virginia Galloway, Regional Field Director for Faith and Freedom Coalition.
But movie studios are not too happy with the bill and are threatening to leave Georgia.
The AJC recently talked to representatives with the TV and film industry who issued a warning to Georgia representatives.
“This very assembly working on this bill has invested billions of taxpayer dollars growing an industry that would leave this state,” said Brian Tolleson, who owns an Atlanta-based digital entertainment company called Bark Bark and works with studios and media companies from New York City to Los Angeles.
“They will boycott coming to shoot anything here,” Tolleson said. “The powers that be in the industry really want to defeat Georgia’s rise as entertainment destination. And we’re handing it to them on a silver platter.”
If this bill passes, it will be detrimental to Georgia’s film industry.
Georgia has recently invested heavily in creating movie and TV studios to support the growing number of productions filming in the state.
Shannon Mall in Union City and South Fulton County, Atlanta is currently being demolished to make room for a new movie studio. In addition, the Atlanta City Council signed off on a deal that would allow for Tyler Perry to turn much of Fort McPherson into a movie studio.
Tyler Perry wants to use the base to expand the number of studio facilities he currently owns and operates. Currently, Tyler Perry owns over 1000 acre property which features five sound stages, a post-production facility and a 400-seat theater in Southwest Atlanta.
Also, a new mega-movie studio has opened in Gwinnett County Georgia that is being called “beautiful” and a “state of the art facility”.
In November, Pinewood studios announced they will be doubling the size of their studios, expanding the Georgia Film Industry.
The bill is headed over to the House for consideration. If you want to stop this bill from passing and save the film industry in Georgia, then contact your Georgia representative.” – WSBTV
