Although it’s hard to believe that the first Harry Potter films came out 15 years ago (yeah, let that one sink in for a minute), the series is still very much loved to this day. And though the film’s stars such as Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson (like HOW perfect was casting her as Belle in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” live action remake?!?) have gone on to carving out their own paths in the entertainment industry, the dynamic between the Harry Potter cast members was amazing and should always be remembered and cherished.
With confirmation and a release date of J.K. Rowling’s 8th book in the Harry Potter franchise, let’s take a look back at the top 10 most awesome cast moments from the previous films…
1. The Troublesome Threesome
Even when the cameras WEREN’T rolling, the three wizards were goofing off around the set. Who says a wizard can’t cut loose from time to time?
Also, look how teeny and tiny all three of them were! Now this is a #throwbackthursday that all three actors should totally share on their social networks!
2. When Mortal Enemies get Mushy
Despite Harry and Draco’s constant bickering and rivalry in the films, they were quite chummy off camera. In this video, Daniel Radcliffe threatens to embarrass Draco Malfoy actor, Tom Felton, by sharing a secret stash of photos showcasing Felton’s “spiky” hair-do.
Ahh, can’t you just feel the love between them?!
3. Dumbledore’s Sweet Moves Were the Envy of Everyone
Dumbledore’s impromptu dance moves probably supplied the cast with endless amounts of entertainment, which was probably a welcome break between intense shooting schedules the cast had to endure.
Also, enjoy this of Dumbledore’s dancing set to music. You’re welcome.
And judging by the late Alan Rickman’s expression, Dumbledore’s moves were awesome enough to even get Snape smiling. Talk about a HUGE accomplishment there!
4.They Were Typecast All The Way
You’ll hardly find anyone to argue over how much Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are pretty much living embodiments of their on-screen characters. This is especially evident when the young trio were asked what they were going to spend their earnings from the first film on. Check out their hilarious (and totally true to character) answers below…
I think we can all solemnly swear that Rupert’s answer is, hand’s down, the BEST.
5. #Awkward #Kissing
It’s hard to imagine how Rupert Grint and Emma Watson felt when they shared their first onscreen kiss in “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 2”. Although they are trained actors, it still has to hard to kissing someone you basically grew up with.
(Check out this behind-the-scenes video of the leading up to the famous kiss)
But as a refresher, we all know they pulled it off effortlessly and it’s one of the most discussed scenes in the Harry Potter film franchise.
6. Harry and His Wand: A Troubled Relationship
Apparently, Daniel Radcliffe had trouble respecting his wand between takes. I guess when the camera stops rolling, the wand loses its magical powers? Because as we ALL know what playing around with a wand from Ollivanders will and can do!
Also, if you’re like everyone else on the planet and want your very own Ollivander’s wand, check out this cool website. Or, you know, you can visit the happiest place in the world (besides Disney World) and book a trip to Universal Studio’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter and have your own personal wand select you!
7. Speaking of Perfectly Cast, the Weasley Twins IRL
Real life twin actors James and Oliver Phelps were perfection as Ron Weasley’s twin brothers. Although they were mainly the comic relief, when it came down to joining Harry in his fight against Voldemort, they were nothing but serious about coming to Harry’s aid. This was especially true during Fred Weasley’s traumatic death (#tears4years).
James and Oliver were so good at convincing other people that they were the other twin that they apparently caused issues with filming when they switched places. Although, there is speculation that this wasn’t true. Just more proof that there really isn’t a difference between the on and off screen twins.
8. Helena Bonham-Carter being Helena Bonham-Carter
Oh, you know. Just Helena Bonham-Carter between takes being exactly what Helena Bonham-Carter is, in full on sassy mode, aka, AWESOME.
9. Competition Between Actors was a Thing, Apparently
Again, if you grew up together like Daniel, Emma and Rupert did, there is bound to be some friendly and sibling-like competition. This was especially true with Daniel and Emma. Apparently, they both had quite the competitive and playful streak.
(Careful with those fighting words, Daniel.)
Here we see Daniel throwing some playful #shade at Emma. I’m pretty sure Emma will channel her best Hermione persona and give Daniel his #shade right back to him. Just ask Draco Malfoy.
10. Saying Goodbye was the Best Moment of All
Through it all, the cast saw and end of an era working together on the Harry Potter films. Not only was it bittersweet for us who grew up watching and reading about Hogwart’s famous characters, it was also sad to see the cast take their final bow.
Although the ending of the film’s series was heartbreaking, it was well worth the memories that they created as well as the amazing movies we get to watch over and over again.
