Bert’s been estranged from his mother and hasn’t talked to her for eight years. So when he received a letter from her, out of the blue, at the station the other day…it kinda threw him for a loop.
Like a good radio soldier, he opened it on-air…except here’s the thing: it was dated July 30 (it was the 13th when he got it), and it’s about a phone call…that never happened. Is it really from her? A lot of people are saying it’s a scam, but there are some other theories floating around…like it’s a scam artist parading as Bert, or that his mom has dementia.
But first, Bert needs to get his mom’s number, so that means he has to reach out to his brother who he ALSO hasn’t talked to in years. So he popped off an email, and his estranged brother wrote back! While he said that everything is ok with mom, but cautioned him to think about whether Bert really wanted to dive into that relationship.
But Bert wanted to make sure he had no regrets down the line, and had to stay true to himself, so he called her.
