Choke — the highlight of their brilliant new album Oh My My — is one of the best pop power ballads in years.
The only word here is epic as Ryan shows off his full vocal power for the first time with the amazing lyric: “I keep a picture of you on the wall, and choke on the memory. I’ll keep a message of you if you call, and choke on the memory.”
Ryan said recently that Adele always wondered why he had never showed off his full vocal prowess before. We’re glad that message hit home.
The production on this album is on another level. The word is big.
Opening track Let’s Hurt Tonight kicks things off with a bang — a beautiful and rousing guitar anthem with a typically catchy Tedder hook.
One Republic — made up of Ryan, BRENT KUTZLE, ZACH FILKINS, DREW BROWN and EDDIE FISHER — have come a long way since forming in 2002, achieving worldwide success with smash hits like Stop and Stare and Counting Stars.
But Oh My My, their fourth studio album out on October 7, is their finest collection of songs to date.
