How does the new record-breaking IT film stack up to the 1990’s horror flick? Let’s take a look! Let’s start off with the children, there is no denying the talent and star power in the 1990’s film, but the kids in the new film pulled of a more relatable persona. Using rhetoric that all kids use today they appealed to today’s generation. The 90’s film almost seemed like a horror film soap opera. Following the kid’s life through adulthood while the present film showed the kids struggle with the insane clown. But enough about the kids let’s get to the good stuff the clowns. This is almost reminiscent of a Heath Ledger Jack Nicholson Joker comparison. Each character was played in such a different way in two entirely different eras’. There is no denying Tim Curry did a phenomenal job. In fact, you could say the only reason that mini-series found success was due to his performance. His portrayal of the character left every abandoned and emotionally damaged child fearing clowns. But Bill Skarsgård’s performance might be the best performance of any character this year. Shape shifting into zombie’s, monster, abusive family members, and everyone’s worst fears Pennywise has put on a show for horror movie fans everywhere.
Either way Penny-wise was scary as all helk, a monster that came every 27 years to eat children. Speaking of 27 years look how far apart these two films were released the two films coming out 27 years apart… yes I did the math. With the record breaking film being released this week there is no doubt there will be another cult following of clowns lurking on our streets.
