Ryan Reynolds is stealing the spotlight as the voice of Pikachu in the new upcoming movie, Pokémon Detective Pikachu.
After the trailer dropped a few days ago, the internet blew up with the news. Reynolds, who plays the fan-favorite antihero Deadpool, shocked viewers as he voiced a new take on the character of Pikachu (usually the cute sidekick, now a sarcastic companion) alongside protagonist Tim, played by Justice Smith. Reynolds went to his Twitter to comment, saying how he had always known he was going to \”wind up as a miniature detective repeatedly saying the same two words\” and posting a link to the trailer.

Detective Pikachu will hit theaters next May, the live-action reboot of the beloved kids\’ franchise already causing a frenzy of excitement among fans. The trailer hit #1 on Youtube\’s trending page within hours of being released, with other classic Pokémon characters making an appearance like Psyduck, Bulbasaur and Mr. Mime!
