Candytopia has been a huge success in Atlanta! In the first week of it being open it generated over $1,000,000 in revenue.
I actually went to Candytopia on Sunday night with some classmates to record the pop up for a videography class. I wasn’t sure what all of the hype was about because I didn’t understand what was so wonderful about rooms made of candy.
Each room is a different theme that has artwork made of candy and some sort of interactive experience for all of the patrons. What I loved most about the experience was that each room had candy that you got to take with you. The worst part about it was that I lost my Apple watch in the Marshmallow pit! I had every kid in the pit searching for it once I offered up $100 for whoever found it. Thankfully, I found it.
Candytopia is so great because it allows adults to live their best life by being a child again without being judged. The marshmallow pit was the absolute best thing that I’ve ever experienced. Candytopia uses an app that they send your photos to by scanning your QR code before you take the picture at each photo opportunity that they have in the exhibit. This is smart, because it forces consumers to download an app; good marketing and quantitative data use. I assume that whoever downloads the app is stored in a database and that way Candytopia is able to see how many people went to the pop up and used the app for their photos.
The best room was the “confetti room.” In the room, there is a candy pig that actually shoots confetti out of its butt. So graphic but so childlike in a playful way. If I would’ve had things like Candytopia back when I was a kid, it would’ve changed my life.
These pop ups are so great because they are interactive and allow people to experience a creative event that isn’t expensive but is great for kids, adults and photo ops for girls who want to post some super fun pics.
