This weekend, Walt Disney Studios released the much anticipated trailer for their live-action remake of “Mulan.” Shortly after the release, fans on twitter were quick to judge the new movie saying that because the beloved characters Li Shang and Mushu will not be in the new adaptation, it will not be worth watching. However, other Disney supporters made sure to educate the annoyed fans on the real tale of Hua Mulan, which is what Disney is basing the live-action movie on. The original “Ballad of Mulan” is over a thousand years old and Disney’s live action film wants to respect the original version of the story for Chinese audiences. What do you guys think?
Watch the trailer here:
Hua Mulan’s story dates to as early as 386 AD frm a folk song & later a transcription in the 6th century. Disney’s live action film is attempting to honor the OG version for Western & Eastern (China) audiences. There is no Mushu or Li Shang in the original so please, shut up! https://t.co/IA4D0uudpJ
