When the clock struck midnight (Oct. 23), our queen, Selena Gomez, let the world finally hear new material, and we are all here for it. “Lose You To Love Me” is infectious, simple, and elegant, all in the span of 3 minutes and 26 seconds. In honor of the official release, here a few of Selena’s iconic moments throughout her eventful career.
1. Her First Audition for Disney Channel
Gomez got her first steps into the entertainment business by landing a role on the hit Disney Channel show “Wizards Of Waverly Place.” Here is a tape of her first audition showcasing her skills at such an early age. How adorable was she?
2. Breakout Disney Star | Wizards of Waverly Place:
After grabbing the role of Alex Russo of “Wizards of Waverly Place,” Selena catapulted to Disney stardom. She was also singing the theme song for the whole series.
3. Her Flawless Effort at Nicki Minaj’s ‘Superbass’
A good amount of artists tried to imitate this verse, but Ms. Gomez killed it with confidence. Someone give her beat so she could rap again for us.
4. Victoria Secret Fashion Show 2015
Gomez performed her hit “Hands To Myself” and an album cut from “Revival” named “Me And My Girls.” Every model was sporting Victoria Secret’s sister brand, “Pink.”
5. “The Heart Wants What It Wants”
After her split with Justin Bieber, Selena went through a rough time getting over that relationship. She never publicly stated this song was about the Biebs, but fans speculated and decided that it really was about him. Those rumors blew this song up to be one of Selena’s most viewed videos on YouTube, catching over 640 million pairs of eyes.
6. Taki Taki
Selena dove into her Latina roots with DJ Snake’s song “Taki Taki.” Her father is of Mexican descent, so it’s nice seeing Selena embrace that part of heritage. Oh.. and this video got over 1 billion views.
