If you did not watch the Grammys last night, you missed an emotional night full of sadness and love. NBA Legend Kobe Bryant passed away at the age of 41 in a tragic helicopter crash in California on Sunday. Bryant’s 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, also passed away in this fiery crash. This news was shocking to everyone and saddened the world. We still cannot believe what happened.
Lizzo Kicked off the Grammys performing her songs “Jerome,” and “Truth Hurts.”
After her performance, Alicia Keys took on the stage as the host for the 2020 Grammys and immediately acknowledged Kobe Bryant and his daughter’s passing. She began the speech saying, “We are literally standing here heartbroken, in the house that Kobe Bryant built.” We know that it was hard for everyone to have a fun time in the Los Angeles STAPLES Center, where Kobe Bryant played.
The fact that they had Kobe Bryant’s basketball jerseys illuminated in the STAPLES Center gave us ALL chills.
However, just when we thought the night couldn’t get any more emotional, Camila Cabello took on the stage and sang an emotional song for her Dad, who was sitting in the audience, and this performance had us all in tears. Camila ended her emotional song by hugging her Dad.
Ariana Grande then took on the Grammy stage and performed, “Imagine,” “7 rings,” and, “Thank U Next.” During Ariana’s Thank U Next performance, Grande got emotional when she switched up some of her lyrics.
In Grande’s original song, she says, ” I’ll be thanking my dad
‘Cause she grew from the drama,” but in her switch up, Grande says, “I’ll be thanking my dad, cause he’s really awesome.”
Grande began to choke up.
Grande was accompanied on the Grammys red carpet by her mother, Joan Grande, and her Dad, Edward Butera. We love you, Ari!
Then, our girl Demi Lovato took on the stage for the 1st time after her overdose scare, and was so emotional, with her new song, “Anyone.” She began the song and immediately began to cry. However, Lovato held her composure and restarted the song stronger than ever. Lovato’s song was a cry for help that brought the entire stadium in tears.
Lyrics to her song:
Anyone, please send me anyone
Lord, is there anyone?
I need someone
Anyone, please send me anyone
Lord, is there anyone?
I need someone
I used to crave the world’s attention
I think I cried too many times
I just need some more affection
Anything to get me by
Here is her performance:
WE HEAR YOU GIRL! YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Mental health is VERY IMPORTANT, and it is a message that needs to be taken more seriously. Demi is a prime example. If you have the time, go on ALL her social accounts and spread the love!
Dj Khaled, John Legend, and Meek Mill take on the Grammys stage to pay tribute to Nipsey Hussle. This performance brought the crowd to their feet. At the end of the spiritual performance, an illuminated photo of Hussle and Kobe Bryant appeared.
Lastly, Billie Eilish took home the top Grammy awards. She won Record of the Year (“Bad Guy”), Album of the Year (When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?), Best New Artist, Song of the Year (“Bad Guy”), and Best Pop Vocal Album. In her speech, she is happy and thanks all of her supporters, including her best friends. She says, ” I feel like I always joke around a lot, and I never take anything seriously at these kinds of things, but I genuinely want to say, I’m so grateful, and I only want to say that I am grateful.” She went on saying, “Thank you to my team, my mom, my Dad, my best friends Drew and Zoey for keeping me alive to this day.” Over the years, Billie has struggled with Depression and has finally accepted herself and looks happier than ever. We love you, Billie and CONGRATULATIONS!
