Your Guide to Fall Festivities

Fall is my favorite time of year! Haunted houses, corn mazes, pumpkins, Halloween costumes, and *dramatic pause* the pumpkin spice latte flavor! I had an amazing fall experience last year and this year will be even better. I usually like to start my fall shenanigans with a fall festival or fair. My all-time favorite is the Cumming fair located at the Cumming Fairgrounds, mainly because it is close to my parents’ house and the high school I attended. However, I recently changed locations (one of the many things Drake and I have in common) to Kennesaw State University and have had the experience to attend the North Georgia Fair- a little closer and a totally different experience (still amazing, though). I love to indulge in the greasy, nasty food and then spend all of my working tip money on tickets for the rides.
Next, I enjoy a nice stroll through a corn maze- bonus points if it is haunted. I am a very family oriented person and have close ties to my hometown. Therefore, I have no problem attending a family business in my hometown…shocking, I know. Cagle’s Dairy has been a place in my childhood and young adult years from the tours of the dairy farm to the famous corn maze which changes its course each season. However, Cagle’s Dairy has moved north from its original stomping grounds, but still worth checking out!
Fall is not complete without pumpkins…duh! So I like to make a trip in my dad’s 1982s baby blue jeep to Amicalola Falls in North Georgia and stop by Burt’s Pumpkin patch to pick up any type of pumpkin you could imagine. Lots of possibilities for DIY fall projects! They have hay rides and lots of yummy popcorn- honestly my favorite snack regardless of the season.
Fall is not complete with a trip to a haunted house. Don’t worry; this is not mandatory, but highly encouraged. Last year I came across my new favorite haunted house and it is not well known so I barely even waited in line. Gates of Misery is your haunted house to go to this year! They offer a smaller haunted house and another bigger haunted house. You can purchase tickets for the smaller house or by tickets for both for a package price.
Finally, Halloween comes, and I usually spend it dressed as my cat at a Halloween party or watching popular scary movies while shoving candy into my face and washing it down with a pumpkin spice latte. The time has come for crunchy fall leaves and autumn squash soup. What more could you ask for in a season?
