Taylor Swift’s name has been trending all over social media for the past 24 hours, but don’t worry we didn’t teleport to the 2017 (ie the Taylor-Kanye West drama.)
Instead, this drama involves Scooter Braun; you may know him as the super famous manager of Justin Bieber.
So here’s what’s going down: Scooter announced that he is buying out Big Machine Records, meaning that he will now own ALL of Taylor’s albums and songs. Swift took to Tumblr to let out all of her frustrations by saying that this is “her worst nightmare.”
Everyone, @taylorswift13 is the REAL DEAL. I stand for every single thing she has said. And I am sad for a fellow artist and writer like myself, who gave Scott a JOB, to take away her most precious words and music. Absolutely disgusted with the “music industry”. #taylorswift

She was also told that the only way she could get the rights to her music back is if she signs another 10 year contract and earns back each of her albums by making new ones.
Many celebrities have also spoken out on the Taylor drama, picking sides, and giving their opinions. Justin Bieber, who has been working with Scooter for years, accused her of trying to ruin his career… while Halsey wrote her own statement defending Swift and claimed that “this was the reason why she writes her own music.”

People that hate Taylor Swift: “Scott gave Taylor the choice to own her masters, he practically handed it to her on a silver platter”
Reality: He told her she could sign a contract and spend the next 10 years “earning” back HER work.. an album for an album— Maranda (@drUnkONTaYtAy) July 1, 2019
So whose side are you on? Does Taylor have a reason to be angry or is this whole thing being blown out of proportion?
