Maybe Mariah Carey didn’t really understand the concept of Carpool Karaoke. When James Corden first pitched the idea, one of Carey’s label reps loved the idea to endorse her Las Vegas residency. She agreed to do the segment, but told them she didn’t have any intentions of singing and thought they should drive around and chat. Well that defeats the purpose of Carpool Karaoke. Eventually, she gave into the feel of Corden and sang and dabbed into a few of her own songs.

“To her credit, she got involved and it was wonderful,” Corden said.
